... One Easter holiday, we crossed the sea to
visit an old friend; once on the island, we took the the coast road
nestling between the cliffs and the sea and we were amazed at the newly-discovered
beauty we found there; the asphalt was edged with an explosion of asphodels,
lavender and wild herbs in full bloom; our vision was inebriated by
immense fields of gold and the air was hung with the intense perfume
